EDUCATION
Play is education at its most FUN!
Education centres from preschool to university and games go hand in hand. Players of all ages will learn and think as they challenge themselves and others.
We have supplied to childcare centres, OOSH (Out Of School Hours) Holiday Camps, schools, universities and other learning centres.
Our facilitated Early Learning PLAY packages and dry-hire packages create stimulating environments that encourage children to explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in exciting new ways.
Your educators are focused on achieving the key developmental outcomes of Belonging, Being and Becoming outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework. We’re not teachers, but we like to think of ourselves as PROFESSORS OF PLAY.
We thrive on developing innovative strategies to get kids to play in more meaningful ways, encouraging learning through interactions that stretch their thinking and problem solving skills to higher levels.
We are happy to talk with your Educators about their developmental objectives and create awesome learning experiences together – or we can plan it all ourselves and bring along a rotating surprise selection of games and activities that we know will wow your kids.
WHAT KINDS OF GAMES?
From GIANT LEGO and Jenga to Connect 4 — did we mention our games are awe-inspiringly enormous? The pure scale of them inspires enthusiasm and joy in itself. We also have the biggest marble run and snakes and ladders games you’ve ever seen and bespoke wooden games you won’t find anywhere else.
Plus for pre-schoolers we offer the ultimate space mission: build your own rocket and launch it to the stars!
BENEFITS OF PLAYING OUR GAMES
There are so many benefits! The very act of playing allows children to enter a FLOW state where key learning concepts can be better absorbed.
Our games promote:
* social interaction and skills
* number and shape recognition, grouping, and counting
* letter recognition and word recognition
* visual and spatial awareness and colour recognition

Early Learning Framework Objectives |
How Garden Games meets them | |
1 | Children become aware of fairness. |
Games are great for teaching children to wait their turn and to take turns. Our games allow children to explore fairness within the context of social interactions. |
2 | Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment. |
Garden Games subscribes to the eco ethos: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. There is very little waste in what we do. We get kids away from screens and outside, helping them reconnect with nature. |
3 | Children become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing. |
Playing games as a group builds on social skills and the satisfaction that results from this connection boosts emotional wellbeing and builds self esteem. |
4 | Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work. |
From giant LEGO and marble runs to Connect 4, our modular games allow plenty of opportunities for counting activities, shape and pattern recognition and constructing and deconstructing within a fun context that’s outside a more structured learning experience. |
5 | Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, enquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating. |
There is no single “correct” way to interact with any of our games and many ways to approach playing them. This means children have the opportunity to use their intuition and experiment in order to make them work. |
6 | Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation. |
Playing our games in groups creates a sense of connection and reinforces existing friendships. Some of our games offer free play while others provide the opportunity for children to take on specific roles and work as a team towards achieving common outcomes as a group. Working as a team helps to create a sense of belonging. |
7 | Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. |
Our games are big, colourful and engaging – both physically and mentally. The challenge of playing them and the joy in doing so sparks creativity, commitment and continued enthusiasm. |
8 | Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities. |
There is much to be learnt about the self through play. Play is how children test out ideas about themselves and others and the world they live in. By gaining knowledge of themselves through play children become more confident in their sense of self and their own identity. |
9 | Children develop their emerging autonomy, inter-dependence, resilience and sense of agency. |
Our games inspire children to have a go. Through playing them they learn to improvise and experiment and work things out for themselves. There will be moments of achieving tasks and some opportunities for trying again all of which promotes agency and resilience. |
10 | Children engage with a range of texts and gain meaning from these texts. |
Not applicable |
12 | Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of media. |
Children can explore ideas in three dimensional form with our giant LEGO. |
13 | Children feel, safe, secure and supported. |
Games and the general concept of play provide a respite from the stresses of everyday life. Staff will help facilitate this by suggesting more play ideas and challenges. |
14 | Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes. |
Communication and interaction both verbally and non-verbally occur in all the games as they navigate towards an outcome. It’s great to watch kids deciding and agreeing on the rules of the games. |
15 | Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect. |
Children can learn and practice waiting and taking turns. Teachers can also encourage children to practice being inclusive. |
16 | Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials. |
Children will engage directly with our games and with the others playing them and learn organically through those connections. |
17 | Children respond to diversity with respect. |
Garden Games respectfully supports diversity in all areas. |
18 | Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another. |
Experimenting with one game or activity creates new ideas to play differently with the next one. Children build on their knowledge and share it with the other participants. |
19 | Children use information and communication technologies to access information, investigate ideas and represent their thinking. |
